Summer has started, and nineteen year old Sydney is about to start her long awaited travel to and through Europe with her best friend Leela. The trip kicks off in London, but uh oh, they stumble upon Leela's cheating ex boyfriend on the plane! To make things even more complicated, Sydney falls for her best friends' hot boyfriend Jackson. After touring all the tourist hotspots of London, they go to Amsterdam. There they go to a real coffeeshops to smoke pot, and even find themselves in an adult show.
Next they move to Belgium and France.Altough there are mentions of it, they do not visit Paris, but a few other beach cities.
The overall idea of the book was nice. I also had some issues with some parts that took place in Amsterdam. First of all, while they are planning for this trip, they are very unsure of what to do, where to go and what to see. And then there where some parts in Amsterdam that where quite off. Again the Netherlands is painted of as the land of pot and sex. Why? I am from the Netherlands and there is so much more then just that. It really fell in some stereotypes. Then there also where some Dutch translations that where quite bad. The romance between Sydney and Jackson was okay, but nothing other then any other YA novel.
So overall this was a book I had high expectations of, but it just wasn't that good.
