In this new book by Meg Cabot, we get to know twenty five year old Bree Beckham, waitress in the local Mermaid Cafe. Bree lives on Little Bridge Island in the Florida Keys. which is about to be hit by a massive category five hurricane in a few days. Everyone in town is boarding up and escaping to safer places. But Bree decides to stay in Little Bridge with her cat Gary, she finds a temporary stay at the home of her boss because her home is in the flooding area. And during her stay, she gets to know Drew. Drew is the son of her boss and notorious as being a local heartbreaker. And for that last Bree is not in, as her ex-boyfriend recently broke her heart. But she gets to know him better and besides the hurricane wooshing outside, there is also on stirring up between the two of them. Especially when her mom, a famous tv judge, calls her to ask for her help, because it seems that a lot of local pets are in danger or left alone by their owners. And Bree and Drew set up a rescue plan for the pets.
If you are in for a romantic, light and fluffy read, then the new book No Judgments by Meg Cabot, well known for the Princess Diaries, is the one for you.
It is written in the specific funny style of Meg Cabot with a fun main character and a wide cast of side characters that make come the story alive. I loved the cute Floridian Key Island setting of Little Bridge where everyone seems to know everyone and everyone seemed to help each other out. The romance between Bree and Drew was funny and very romantic, it took off slowly but in the end there was no stop at all in it (and this included some..ehm..steamy scenes..) And I loved how Meg Cabot includes her love for animals, especially cats, in this book, the pet rescue that Bree and Drew get involved in in the end was the best!
Overall, I repeat, this book is a perfect book if you are in for an cute romantic escape read, nothin more, nothing less, and certainly no judgments..;)
