Natasha is a teen girl who has lived for all most of live in New York City with her family. Her parents came to America from Jamaica because her dad wanted to try his luck as an actor on Broadway. But due to circumstances, they are deported back to Jamaica, in the setting of the book this is going to happen the next night, just twelve hours away. So Natasha figures out she has twelve hours to try to prevent them from being sent back, and she makes another travel to the Immigration office to try to talk to someone about it. But also there she is sent back by security. And she walks out of the building to go to her favorite vinyl record store, for one last time.

Daniel is Korean-American. He has always been the good son. His parents are happy that he is such a good student, unlike his problematic older brother Charlie, who is kicked out of Harvard and will not live up to his parents strict expectations. One day outside a vinyl record store he sees a girl with the most awesome Afro hair with her pink headphones on, dancing on the street like no one is watching. Yes, that happens to be no one but Natasha.

The last day that Natasha is in the USA, a beautiful and spontaneous friendship between Natasha and Daniel starts, that eventually leads to a shortlived romance.

I was completely blown away by The Sun is Also A Star. Natasha is very science orientated while Daniel is a dreamer and a poet. Author Nicola Yoon combined these two together and created a brilliant YA novel. Natasha and Daniel are so perfectly realistic, they have real stuff happening, real emotions. On Natasha's last day, they have the best day in New York City. Daniel doesn't know until the end about the deportation. How the author let them meet again in the end was just fantastic. The dialogues between the two just rocked and made the story coming alive. The author lets Natasha and Daniel alternate in pov, and she also has made room to deepen out some side characters in a few in-between chapters.

I loved every minute of this book, just didn't want it to end, highly recommended!!
