Evie Gomez is living with her parents in a wheatlhy part of Southern California and goes to school at Villanueva, the best school in town. Her best friend Dee Dee and Raquel also live close and the same counts for Evie's boyfriend, Alex.
Evies grades are going down, and her parents are forcing her to get her grades up, or otherwise she can say goodbye to her big sixteenera party. Evie has to do volunteer work to get better grades, and she is set in to work the Southern California Horse Reserve to do that. She has to take care of the horses in the stables, and there she meets the leader of the volunteers, Arturo, who seems so have a snobby girlfriend, Josephina.
And then everything wents in a different direction. Evie and Alex are having relationship issues, her best friend Dee Dee might be moving back to Mexico and Raquel has also some serious issues. And what about Evie's sister Sabrina(also called Supreme because everybody thinks she is so perfect) who is home after troubles at college and troubles with her boyfriend?
And with all the trouble, will Evie be able to get her grades up so she can throw her super sweet sixteenera?
Scandaloza is a fun ya novel with a Latina flavour. It its real real fun in every way. Evie and her friends are just a fabulous group of friends (the Flojo''s, named after the beach slippers they always wear). It is a real summer kind of book, readers will love the spanish that is in the story wich makes it even more fun. Reccommended read if you are looking for a light book.
