After a horrible childhood where Christina Noble lived on the streets of Ireland, with an alcoholic father and being abused frequently, Christina goes to Vietnam to go after her dream of a little Vietnamese girl who reaches out her hand to Christina and asks for help. In Vietnam she starts helping the streetchildren of Ho Chi Minh City, mostly half American, half Vietnamese (bui doi).
She sets up a large foundation and centres for the children and rescues children out of the hands of horrible western tourists.
Bridge across m sorrows is a very impressive book, the first part tells about Christina's live in Ireland wich is a very long and sad part, the second part is about her time in Vietnam. Not a book to pick up when you want a fun read but worth reading if you like books about Vietnam.
