Being Bindy by Alyssa Brugman

Bindy and Janey are best friends. But suddenly Janey starts acting different. She suddenly doesn't visit Bindy that much anymore and seems to has found a new friend in Hannah, a popular girl in, and with her a more cool crowd of the school. Janeys new crowd dresses provocatively, smokes pot, and is downright mean. Bindy feels really lonely, but finds a new friendship with a boy who loves the same kind of books as she does. But then she finds out that her divorced dad is dating Janey's mom.and, from this point on, things only get nastier between the two ex-friends. In addition, Bindys relationship with her own mother is strained.

Being Bindy is an excellent book for younger teens. The story was overal very cute, but downright fantastic, altough it was short and the end was a bit abrubt. Author Alyssa Brugman has woven many teen difficulties in the story, Bindy experiences a lot grief, embarrassment, and humiliation in the book. I also have known 'best friends' like Janey, who suddenly dump you right on the spot or are letting you down slowly and sneaky, so I thought the author described it very realistic.
A book every young teen girl must read, older readers will recognize a lot in it.
