Victoria Arbuthnot, a wealthy young heiress, is heading back to London after spending her childhood in India. She is shipped back to England to find an eligible husband.
On the ship she has met Hugo Rotschild, earl of Malfrey, and its love at first sight and the two make plans to marry when back in London. But while they are at the ship, the young Captain Carstairs is eyeing Lady Victoria too. Back in London, where she lives at her aunt's place, Jacob Carstairs informs her that he knows Hugo Rotschild, and not in a good way. It's said that Hugo only wants to marry Victoria to get his hands on the money her parents left her. And the rumors seem to be true, so Victoria sets up a plan to unmask Hugo and cancel their wedding.
Farewell to Lady Victoria's love life. Or is there someone else coming up who seems the perfect husband for her?
Victoria and the Rogue is one of the two historical and very romantic teen comedies by Meg Cabot. I recently have read Nicola and the Viscount, which is quite similar to this book, but even as funny and cute. Real Meg Cabot fans shouldn't miss this entertaining fast novel!
