Stanford Wong Flunks Big Time by Lisa Yee

Stanford Wong is a sixth grader who loves to play basketball. He is the first in Rosetta Ranch High School to get into the basketball A-team, and he is going to a basketball summer camp, which is lead by a professional basketball star.

But then he flunks his English grades, big time! His parents don't let him go to the basketball summer camp, and instead of it he has to go to summer school. To lett him pass sixth grade, his parents hire Millicent Min to tutor him. Stanford doesn't like Millicent at all: she is a genius at eleven, a total jerk, and a poster girl for Chinese geekdom.

He doesn't want his friends to know he is tutored by Millicent, and that beautiful funny girl Emily Ebers doesn't have to know either. So he tells them that hé is tutoring Millicent! Problem solved, right? Beside all his school trouble, his grandmother Yin Yin leaves his house to live at an elderly home, Vacation Village. He misser her and her best dim sum, so he visits her a lot..

Great second part in this trilogy, it was just as excellent as Millicent Min, Girl Genius. I loved to read how Stanford tried to deal with his troubles and that he was so sweet for Yin Yin.
The books by Lisa Yee never dissapoint and are the best for middle grade fiction. Stanford Wong Flunks Big Time is the perfect read for boys aged 9-12 who love basketball.
