Nothing But The Truth And A Few White Lies by Justina Chen Headley

Patty Ho is a half Taiwanese, half American girl, living in Seattle with her mom and older brother Abe. Her Taiwanese mom is very strict: get the best grades, a rich Taiwanese husband, and get the best future. (And eat your mom's smelly tonic soup, because that is good for you!), and do dating! She also has to undergo a belly button reading, to see her future.
Instead of doing fun things in the summer with her friends, she has to go to math camp at
Stanford University.

During her summer at Stanford, she learns morewhat it means to be a Hapa, half Asian-half white. And, out of sight from her mom, she starts dating that hot Asian guy she met at the airport. She almost drops ou of the camp because of her grades and lack of commitment, but she stays in after all, and learns more about her Taiwanese roots, her family history, boyfriends, and most of all..herself.

Nothing But The Truths is just another magnificent book by Justina Chen Headley, one of my favorite authors. It's a great book between cultures, as I love books in this genre, this book was on top of my want-to-read-list, and it absolutely was worth the waiting!

I loved the story of Patty's self discovery. In the first part of the book, she is bullied by some horrible guys from her school. This was written just perfect by Justina, as I have dealed with the same kind of bullies in my high school who did the exact same things as Steve.
During the book you also get to know why her strict mom acts the way she does, which really gives the story depth. Patty is just the most amazing spunky main character, I loved her way of telling the story. This was the very very first YA novel about a topic I never have found a fictional book about Taiwan. I enjoyed every minute of this excellent book, and as I have read all of Justina's book now, I am just craving for the next one..
