The Night She Disappeared by Lisa Jewell

Publisher: Penguin UK
Publication date: July 2nd 2021
Pages: 400
I reviewed the ebook provided by the publisher on Netgalley.co.uk for an honest review.

2017;Kim is the mother of the twenty-something Tallulah. Tallulah is the young mother of Noah, and she has a long term boyfriend Zach.
The story starts on the evening and the day after that Tallulah and Zach went to a party at the house of a friend named Scarlett, leave and leave Noah in Kim's care for the night.
The day after, they don't return home. Kim frantically calls everyone who she can to find out where Tallulah and Zach went to the party, and what happened when they left it. But she gets nothing other then dead ends. The only lead is Scarlett the bit odd and weird friend that hosted the party at the big mansion of her parents, near to the woods called Dark Place. Tallulah and Zach never return home..

2019; Sophie just moved to her new house near to the same woods where apparently Tallulah and Zach disappeared into. One day she is walking in the woods near the boarding school where her boyfriend has just started work as a head-teacher when she sees a note fixed to a tree that says;

'DIG HERE' . .

She digs and finds a little box with an engagement ring. The shop where it is made is on the box, and after requesting information there who bought the ring because she wants to give it back to the rightfull owner, she finds out it was bought by a certain Zach. This is the first unraveling of the mystery of the disappearance of Zach and Tallulah, and in alternating chapters between 2017 and 2019, the reader gets to find out what exactly happened to them..

It was a little while ago, I guess back when I started my blog in 2008, that I've read a book by Lisa Jewell, I remember the last book I read by her was more in the chicklit genre. But as it seems, the last few years Lisa Jewell has turned to the thriller genre. What I also remember about the last book I read by her (I believe it was Ralph's Party) was that I really liked it. That is also the case with this book.
It is exceptionally good! It was a while ago I read a thriller (as this is not my main genre of choice) but this one was absolutely a page turner. Without revealing to much spoilers, the story is amazing. At first I didn't know what to expect but when I read further and further I got really into the story and truly wanted to find out what happened to Tallulah and Zach. The end was totally different then I expected, but it was an end that was a very good conclusion and wrap up of the story. This is a thrilling thriller that I recommend reading!
