Dessa Rhodes lives with her family that are traveling as modern day nomads in an RV. Dessa's dream is to become an artist, and she has applied to several art school. Her boyfriend Cyrus also belongs to the same nomad community. But then she doesn't get into any of them. And her dad tells her the family has serious finiancial problems, which she isn't allowed to tell her mom.
Then she gets the chance to become an intern for a local artist in Santa Fe, and Dessa has to prove that she truly belongs there. And in the end, when she has the chance, she has to make the difficult decision to stay in Santa Fe and become a real artist, or to stay traveling with her family and boyfriend.
This is just a perfect summer read! The writing style is fast and light and the storyline was good and fun, with some more serious parts also included. Dessa's family live, the RV nomadic community and her struggles to become an artist where very entertaining to read as she is just a very likeable person to connect to.The importance of family is a recurring theme throughout the story, and the friendships between the protagonist, Dessa and her friends, Cyrus and Tarryn, were simply beautiful.
Overall a fast and un read that is a must read for this summer!
