Jill Whitaker is a sixteen year old girl. She has a boyfriend Sean, and she works in her dad's car repair shop. While her dad is the most awesome nice and trustworthy person in the world, the least can be said of her mom: one night she finds her mom in a questionable state of undressing together kissing her boyfriend Sean and soon afterwards her mom leaves with leaving not more then a post-it note. She finds some escape from the mess formerly known as her family on her roof, that is connected to the house next door where the new neighbors live. And there she meets Daniel, who comes from just a broken family as her, as he is dealing with domestic abuse. She tries to pick up the broken pieces of her life and too fix not only her life but also of her loved ones around her, including Daniel. But slowly she learns that she can't fix it for everyone, and that she first has to. But because of Daniel she finds out what to do to make things better in her life.

If I Fix You is a very well written YA novel that deals with quite some family issues: betrayal, divorce and domestic abuse. I really liked the storyline, plot and pace of the book, it all was worked out very well by the author. Jill is a very realistic main protagonist and the problems she had to deal with very also portrayed very realistic. I wondered though why she stayed friends with Sean, as he really betrayed her. She really finds a friend in Daniel, and as a reader you just want to find out if it's going to be more then just friendship. But in the end everything in this topic changes again and she really has to make some difficult decisions, but I really liked the outcome and the ending of the book afterward!

A very good and more serious young adult novel, recommend it!
