This week I finally had time to read a sneak preview of Spontaneous by Aaron Starmer.
Spontanous is a fun fast paced YA novel. The main character is Mara Carlyle, who is a high school senior. One just very normal day, she is in third period pre-calc when suddenly... BAMM!!!! her classmate Katelyn Ogden explodes! But how? Why? What is the reason behind her explosion? As it seems Katelyn is the first but not the last teen who blows up spontaneously. More and more blow up as if they where balloons stuck by a needle. The national tv has the eye on her suburban New Jersey hometown, and the FBI starts a frantic search for the reason behind it. And besides this all, Mara tries to graduate, in one piece.
It’s an explosive year punctuated by romance, quarantine, lifelong friendship, hallucinogenic mushrooms, bloggers, ice cream trucks, “Snooze Button™,” Bon Jovi, and the filthiest language you’ve ever heard from the President of the United States.
I really liked this sneak preview! It was so funny, and very well written. It really made me curious for the reason why the teens where blowing up all of a sudden. The style it was written in reminded me a bit of the books by Allen Zaddof, which I really liked. So yess, this is definately a book I hope to read somewhere soon, recommend it!
