This week I spotted a few new reads that look quite good, and which I hope to review later this year:
Summer In The Invisble City by Juliana Romano,
On Sale June 21, 2016, Dial Books
Seventeen-year-old Sadie Bell has this summer all figured out: She's going to befriend the cool girls at her school. She's going to bond with her absentee father, a famous artist, and impress him with her photography skills. And she's finally going to get over Noah, the swoony older guy who was her very first mistake.
Sadie wasn't counting on meeting Sam, a funny and free-thinking boy who makes her question all of her goals. But even after a summer of talking, touching, and sharing secrets, Sam says he just wants to be friends. And when those Sadie cares about most hurt her, Sam's friendship may not be enough. Sadie can see the world through her camera, but can she see the people who have loved and supported her all along?
A Week of Mondays by Jessica Brody,
Expected publication: August 2nd 2016 by Farrar, Straus and Giroux (BYR)
Sixteen-year-old Ellison Sparks is having a serious case of the Mondays. She gets a ticket for running a red light, she manages to take the world’s worst school picture, she bombs softball try-outs and her class election speech (note to self: never trust a cheerleader when she swears there are no nuts in her bake-sale banana bread), and to top it all off, Tristan, her gorgeous rocker boyfriend suddenly dumps her. For no good reason!
As far as Mondays go, it doesn’t get much worse than this. And Ellie is positive that if she could just do it all over again, she would get it right. So when she wakes up the next morning to find she’s reliving the exact same day, she knows what she has to do: stop her boyfriend from breaking up with her. But it seems no matter how many do-overs she gets or how hard Ellie tries to repair her relationship, Tristan always seems bent set on ending it. Will Ellie ever figure out how to fix this broken day? Or will she be stuck in this nightmare of a Monday forever?
Unscripted Joss Byrd: A Novel
by Lygia Day PeƱaflor
Expected publication: August 23rd 2016 by Roaring Brook Press
Hollywood critics agree. Joss Byrd is "fiercely emotional," a young actress with "complete conviction," and a "powerhouse."
Joss Byrd is America's most celebrated young actress, but on the set of her latest project, a gritty indie film called The Locals, Joss's life is far from glamorous. While struggling with her mother's expectations, a crush on her movie brother, and a secret that could end her career, Joss must pull off a performance worthy of a star. When her renowned, charismatic director demands more than she is ready to deliver, Joss must go off-script to stay true to herself.
On my blog later this month:
On June 22, the UK blog tour of All Together Now by Gill Hornby makes a stop at my blog.
I just finished reading two books, which will be up this month for review: Mystic Summer by Hanna McKinnon and Drag Teen by Jeffery Self, which will be the first two reviews coming up!
Also to be expected the next month on the blog, reviews of some amazing YA titles from Penguin Random House. More about this later.. ;)
Happy Reading!
