After breaking up with her bad-news boyfriend, Reagan O’Neill is ready to leave her rebellious ways behind. . . and her best friend, country superstar Lilah Montgomery, is nursing a broken heart of her own. Fortunately, Lilah’s 24-city tour is about to kick off, offering a perfect opportunity for a girls-only summer of break-up ballads and healing hearts. But when Matt Finch joins the tour as its opening act, his boy-next-door charm proves difficult for Reagan to resist, despite her vow to live a drama-free existence. This summer, Reagan and Lilah will navigate the ups and downs of fame and friendship as they come to see that giving your heart to the right person is always a risk worth taking.

Open Road Summer is a light story about touring with your rockstar best friend. When Matt walks into the story the friendship dynamics change, and the guy who has to act like he is Lilah's boyfriend, falls in love with Reagan. But then trouble stirs up, the tour ends and Reagan heads home, after some friction between her and Matt.

I fell for Reagan, Matt, and Lilah as they toured city after city. I was beyond appalled by some of the things that happened to Lilah and what she went through. I understand that the entertainment industry is built on image and all, but I still couldn't stomach what I saw. If that's what being a celebrity is like, I'll let someone else have it... Reagan, Matt, and Lilah are learning how to deal with their new realities and where they want to go from there. Their journey is a mix of highs and lows that will keep you turning page after page. I can't wait for Emery Lord's next book. She's set the bar really high with this fantastic book. If you're looking for a book that will keep you entertained now that summer is fast approaching, you can't go wrong with this one.
