Being permanently based in a local New York City high school as an undercover operative has its moments, good and bad, for 16-year-old safecracker Maggie Silver. Pros: More quality time with her former mark-turned-boyfriend Jesse Oliver and insanely cool best friend, Roux. Getting to spend quality time with her semi-retired and international spy honorary uncle, Angelo. Cons: High school and the accompanying cliques, bad lunches, and frustratingly simple locker combinations. But when Maggie's parents are falsely accused of stealing priceless gold coins, Maggie uses her safecracking skills to try and clear their names. Too bad it only serves to put her and everyone she loves in danger. Maggie and her "new team" flee to Paris where they must come up with a plan to defeat their former allies.
It is more than a year ago that I read Also Known As.., the first book in this series by Robin Benway, so U had to dig in my memory for quite a while to remember what It was about. Luckily I had my review of it to help me remember the plot and the characters, which are also present in Going Rogue. I think it is better not to read this book as a standalone book, but to begin with Also Known As in nthe first book, the main characters of the story are still Maggie, Jesse, and Roux, which I immediatly liked all three and want to be friends with. The emotional depth to the relationships between these three characters really works in this book. You get the feeling that these three characters have bonded completely and are able to trust each other without question, which I imagine is incredibly important when you’re all of a sudden on a team of international spies. The story even takes them to Paris in the end, where the romance also takes a fun turn. Overall I thought this was a fun and fastpaced sequel, where even the villains are interesting! This series better continue, is all I'm saying!!
