Veronica 'Ronnie’ Hautman is dumped by her drug addict mom two years ago. Since then she is been in a succession of foster families, including an uncle and a religious but selfish aunt. Now she is living with a new foster mother, a child psychologist who is willing to tackle Ronnie's lying, stealing, and violent outbursts: Alison. But is Ronnie ready to trust her new (but temporary) foster mom? Ronnie is desperately trying to be accepted by her peers at school. Does she stay best friend with Cat, or does she accept the invite by the most popular clique in school, who gossip about Cat and steal clothes from the mall?

Through Ronnie’s diary written story, the readers gets an inside view in the life of a girl in hope to get adopted. I liked that it is written this way, it makes it more realistic. This is an excellent book for teens and adults interested in foster care, older child adoption, and in teens in general. The author, Pamela Lowell, has worked as a child psychologist, so she knows from firsthand what she writes about. Impressive read!!
