Sarah is living in a little town in Ohio where its boring.Nothing ever happens, and her parents are too busy with their career to spend time with her. They only seem to notice her when she get good grades.
Her only passion is dancing: ballet, jazz and tapdance. When the summer arrives and she sees an open call for auditions for the Wildwood summer school of musical theatre, she applies. Her audtion number is Popular from the musical Wicked, and hopefully she sings just as good as Kristin Chenoweth to get in..
Her best friend Demi(a boy, but not her boyfriend) her only friend in town, also auditions and they both get in. How great is it that they can be together for the whole summer! They both seeing the camp as their big chance for their big break. But during the camp, Sarah discovers that their friendship is getting little breaks, and that she is not a big musical theatre talent as she though she was, while Demi disovers that he is better in dancing and singing than he thought, and while Sarah auditioned with the song Popular, Demi is the real popular one. Its a summer of friendship, rivalry, and new love..
As I love theatre, this was just the book for me. At firsthand Dramarama seems to be a very cute and girly novel. But this book was more than that and it had real depth and great main and side characters. I felt really sorry for Sarah when she found out she hadn't the talent to continue at Wildwood, and that her friendship with Demi and her new 'friends' at Wildwood where fading away when she was back home. A great read for everyone who loves musical theatre!
