Katie Parker has settled in great with her foster parents Millie and James Scott in the town of In Between. She also loves her, bit eccentric foster grandmother Maxine. But then a tornado hits In Between. Millie is lightly wounded with glass shatters, and when she goes to the hospital to let the glass remove, they find lumbs and she is diagnosed with breast cancer. Katie is scared to lose Millie, who she considers as her real mother. Katie is doubting her trust in God, and if he will heal Millie from this horrible disease.
On school new troubles arise when the daughter of gym coach Nelson, Angel, accuses Katie of stealing., and her boyfriend is hooking up with the popular and mean Chelsea.. and when she finally has coped with this all, her real mom is standing on the Scott's doorstep
I loved this second part in the Katie Parker novel. She is facing so many hard things, but the book is light and funny. The story really has depth and I love how it is written. Already am reading book 3 now, which continues with the moment Katie's real mom is appearing again..
