At a grateful dead concert you need: Acid: two windowpanes taped to chest checked Tape deck for recording shows. Checked Wad of cash Checked. PB&J sandwiches for the munchies Missing Tickets to the show Missing .45 handgun What? Scotty Loveletter is in big trouble. He's about to be expelled from school, but all he cares about is getting to Freedom...
Scotty lives on the 'last resort' boarding school of Stillwater, and spends all his free time with his roommate and friends on campus. His mom is a famous sex therapist and hasn't much for him.Scotty's few things in life (besides taking noteable amounts of drugs): the music of his idols, Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead.
When his drug-dealing roommate whisks him and a "townie" classmate away to attend Jerry's Freedom Concert on Long Island, Scotty has little idea of the adventures that are in store, which include being ditched at Grand Central Terminal and getting into the concert without a ticket.
Freakes just wasn't my kind of book. The story is to thin to be entertaining, and Scotty and his friends' drug taking behavior becomes more and more annoying during the story, and most of the story there wasn't any progression or development in the characters and situations. That's all I have to say about this book.
