The Twelve Days of Dash & Lily picks up where the previous book, Dash & Lily's Book of Dares ended. Dash and Lily are dating for a year, but slowly the magic in it dissappears. Especially when Lily's beloved grandfather dies. This is the point where Lily starts to question where she stands in life. And even with Christmastime, her favourite time, approaching, she doesn't really feel...anything.
Action must be taken. There are twelve days until Christmas. Twelve days for friends and family to take Manhattan by storm to help Lily recapture the magic of New York City in December. Twelve days to find Lily's cheer, and help her fall in love with life again. Twelve days left for Dash and Lily...?
It is a few years ago that I've read Dash & Lily's Book of Dares so I had to spit a little to find my memory of it. I liked that one, but somehow I didn't like The Twelve Days.. as much as book 1. It is an ok story for younger teens. The story lacks direction though and it feels like the authors didn't know where to go with the story and the characters; it didn't have much depth. The drama in Lily's life for example. I just didn't care much as a reader. As for Dash, a week later after I finished this book, I don't even remember much of what happened to him in the book. The main focus is on Lily, and dash dealing with her and both are figuring out the status of their relationship.
An okay read, but it does miss the wow-ness and excitement of the first book.
