On the outside, stay at home-mom Sloane's life seems just perfect life with her husband, daughter and financial security. She is not happy though and feels like something is missing from her life, altough she doesn't know exactly what.
When the chance arrives to stay at her aunt's Lake George summer house for three weeks, she jumps at the chance, but not before she invites two of her most close friends, Hilary and Georgina.Hillary is a successful woman married to a wonderful guy, the only thing missing is a child in their lives. She readily agrees to a three week, women only break with Sloane. Sloane and Georgina were college friends, Sloane has been mad at Georgina for her usual selfishness...her insensitivity when Sloane's sister dies...so Georgina invited herself on this getaway.
And during the three weeks getaway, Sloane's old boyfriend Luke walks back into her life. And maybe this is what she has been missing all the time
Later on, they reveal some scandals to each other, and it seems they all covered the cracks in their seemingly perfect lives. This is the start for more bonding between the three women, and they are there as real friends to support each other.
The book is a enjoyable light read, perfect for an after summer afternoon. I must say though that I expected more of it, as in a stronger plot. At some point it got a little lost in too much dialogue between Sloane, Hilary and Georgia, and at a few points I missed the point of the problem where they where talking about.Hillary and Georgina are opposites and Sloane did not think they would get along. But in the end, when everyone learned more about the other the bond between them has changed.
Overall I enjoyed reading it, and the author created three realistic and interesting character, but I expected more of it.
